What is there to do?
Almost anything, especially the outdoor variety.
On-Site
Before embarking on this exciting enterprise we thoroughly researched the areas of Pas de Calais, Normandy, Cote d'Amor and Finistere, and decided that Morbihan really had more to offer than any of them.
Both cottages are situated in 2.5 acres with their own private garden areas and a spacious grassed paddock, with stunning views over the surrounding rolling countryside. Here the family can play badminton, football, volleyball, rounders, boule and we also have a 4 metre splash pool ideal for all the family!
Also available are a number of planned cycling / walking routes guiding you around the local area, and if you wish, further a field.
In the Local Area
This region of Central Brittany, situated in the heart of the Black Mountains provides a number of activi ties, which appeal to a wide range of tastes. Ideally situated within the Pays du Roi Morvan (the Country of the King of Morvan), in the North-West corner of the department of Morbihan, it is perfectly located to explore the whole of this most beautiful peninsular. Visit the Roi Morvan website: www.paysroimorvan.com, which is excellent for more information on what the area has to offer.
Whatever your preference, there is something for everyone and we are only a short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches in France.
Throughout the week there are a wide variety of markets in the local villages and towns, offering an array of fresh produce and regional specialities.
The main holiday periods see additional annual attractions such as the ‘Fête de la Crepe' in nearby Gourin (the Capital of the Black Mountains and where it is claimed the Crêpe originated), the ‘Fête des Brodeuses' in Pont-L'Abbé (Festival of regional Embroidery and Lace) and the Internationally renowned ‘Celtic Festival' in Lorient (which lasts a week!).
Within the surrounding area, there are numerous sites of interest ranging from the Ancient (such as Churches/Chapels, Abbeys, Historic Monuments, Fountains and Megaliths!) to the more modern (Museums, Chateaux and Parks - both Natural and Theme).
The Lakes and Bas de Loisirs (Nautical Parks) offer both the space and tranquillity to enjoy sunbathing and swimming, or for the more active, sailing and windsurfing. Reservoir and Sea Fishing is available (with a permit), in addition to many of the rivers in the area.
The beautiful beaches of the Southern coast (most of which have been awarded a Blue Flag by the EC) are within an easy 30-40 minute drive. Here you will find wonderfully secluded coves, and more open areas for surfing, windsurfing and jet skiing.
Golf is a firm favourite with the French; thus there are a number of lovely golf courses to be found in this southern section of Brittany. We would be glad to supply details and/or organise your golf. Just ask us for details.
Other activities on offer nearby include horse riding, canoeing/kayaking, quad biking and much more.
Other interests such as Art, Pottery, Regional Products and Breton Culture are well represented throughout the region. There are a multitude of galleries, workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations to be found all year round.
Child Friendly
Most of the activities available keep younger visitors in mind. There are lots of attractions to keep children entertained as well as encouraging discovery and learning.
